Every province, territory and state in Canada and the U.S.A. will be represented to compete in 16 sports, of which 3 are traditional Aboriginal sports and 13 are non-traditional sports. They are as follows:

3-D Archery Golf
Athletics Rifle Shooting
Badminton Soccer
Baseball Softball
Basketball Swimming
Boxing Tae Kwon Do
Canoeing Volleyball
Field Lacrosse Wrestling


Special Olympic Sports

There are 5 competitive age classifications for both male and female athletes. These classifications are determined by the year of birth. They are as follows:

Bantam 1988-89 13 and 14 years old
Midget 1986-87 15 and 16 years old
Juvenile 1984-85 17 and 18 years old
Junior 1981-83 19 to 21 years old
* Senior 1980 and earlier 22 years and older
** Masters 1952 and earlier 50 years and older

* The Senior competition is only offered in sports categorized as individual sports and the following team sports: Basketball, Volleyball and Fastball.

** The Masters competition is only offered in Golf.
